PINE CITY, MN - “I felt very achieved” said Cedric LaFave after he returned from the Section finals having once again beaten his record in the mile run. While his season is over after placing third at sections, just shy of a state qualifying run, LaFave’s mile run has earned him a spot on the wall as an HFHS record-holder. His latest mile run, at 4:36:50, beat his previously earned record of 4:37:53. Cedric has ran the mile 5 or 6 times already, and he has been striving to do better every time. When he broke the record the first time at sub-sections, Cedric said he had a feeling that he had broken the record, but couldn’t know for sure until the times were posted. Second place at sub-sections meant Cedric moved on to the Section meet. Sections were held on Wednesday, May 30th at St. John’s University. Cedric yet again broke the school record achieving a PR (personal record) for the second time this year. Cedric placed third at sections, which sadly was not quite high enough to move on and go to state, but this is not the end. Cedric plans to take his talents to cross country, hoping to improve and come back next year with an even faster time. The new school record has been set, now the track team is waiting for someone to beat it. Cedric hopes to keep improving and continue to break his record.
