6/1/2018 0 Comments Golf Season Wrap UpBy Abby Painovich The Hinckley Finlayson girls and boys 2018 golf season was postponed because of the never ending winter weather but ,nevertheless, they came out in every meet and made it count, having a ton of fun along the way. They had a lively playoff run, with the girls qualifying for section finals as a team, 4 boys qualifying for section finals as individuals, and Sophia Hopkins almost making it to the state meet, coming up just one stroke too many. Although they did not win any conference meets this season, the girls team placed 4th in their best conference meet of the season while the boys placed 3rd in their best. Both of these were out of eight conference teams. Both teams were also able to defeat Mora in a non-conference, but very competitive meet. The boys team also had one member who was named an all conference athlete; congratulations to Landon Dematti who was one of the top 13 players in their conference. Also, congratulations to seniors, Katelyn France, Ashley Golly, Savannah Morgan, Parker Klar and Kyle Nicholson on their last season of golf at Hinckley Finlayson High. Coach Grimm comments that, “they will be missed and [have] provided great leadership the past few seasons.” He is very proud of the effort and persistence that both of his teams and each and every players showed throughout the season. He is looking forward to growing as team next year. Next season, the teams are looking to improve individual as well as teams scores, to have more golf athletes qualify for all conference and to send at least a couple of golfers to state. They would also like to see more students come out for golf next year to have a stronger and larger team. Next year, Coach Grimm expects the young team to be more and experienced which he hopes will result in a winning season. He is very eager for next season so they can build off of this year and improve greatly. They are hoping to get out on the course earlier than they did this year and to have more meets. Above all else, Coach Grimm is most looking forward to “working with the kids and having fun.” Below are few pictures, taken by Daniel Lingle, at their home meet at Hinckley Grand National Golf Course.
