4/24/2020 0 Comments Truthful Words in Tough TimesBy Killeen Prater *I know everyone has heard enough about the COVID-19 virus and being quarantined but I think it is extremely important that when we are hearing things about the virus we are fact checking. We are spending so much time on social media now that we are cooped up inside our houses that it becomes extremely easy to be given fake news. This is a great time to learn skills to help figure out what is true and what isn't.
“Humans are the virus” People have been seeing this trend all over facebook, twitter, instagram and even snapchat. People have been using this term to show that the earth is having time to heal because we are not traveling and polluting as much while in quarantine. It may be very true that groups of people are causing our earth to deteriorate but it is not true that humans as a species have done this to the earth. Capitalism is the virus. There are many nationalities all around the world that have found ways to interact with our earth in very peaceful and non destructive ways. When we use the term human we are grouping those nationalities as part of the problem which is not the case. Putting partial blame on these groups of people is essentially erasing part of that culture's history. Keeping our words truthful even if it is minor details is important in a time of mass confusion.
