9/7/2018 0 Comments Jaguar Volleyball Weekly Recap On Tuesday to kick off the school year the Hinckley-Finlayson volleyball team hosted their first home game. C-team, JV and varsity were all defeated by the visiting Rush City Tigers.
C-team took the first game of 5 but then, the Tigers picked up their pace and won the second game, a nail biter that ended 27-29. Rush City had the momentum to finish off the last 3 sets and win the match 4 games to 1. JV started off powerful stealing the first game from Rush City. The Tigers came back swinging in the second game and took one from the Jaguars. The very close third game had everyone on the edge of their seats but the Tigers came out on top with a final score of 11-15. The varsity team almost snuck out a couple wins but fell just short to the Tigers. One game with a score of 23-25. An exciting match to watch to say the least. A prominent strength of these nine girls is their serving capabilities. They missed very few and had an abundant amount of aces. On Thursday the girls went to visit the Bombers of Braham. Neither C-team, JV or varsity could pull off an overall win but that didn’t make it any less of an exciting night. C-team lost last night to the Braham Bombers. They fought hard but just couldn’t pull it off. Coach Smith gave us her take on the JV game last night, “The JV team struggled to stay in a consistent rhythm last night, and lost in straight sets to a solid Braham squad on the road. They will regroup tonight at practice for a quick turn-around before heading to Pine City tomorrow for a tournament.” The varsity team started slow losing the first 2 games 12-25 and 13-25. They came back in the 3rd game, they had Braham frazzled. Playing hard and feeding off of the energy of the crowd the Jags took game 3, 25-23. They carried their momentum into the 4th set it was just too late. The Bombers took that game 21-25. Overall it was a good week of volleyball. This whole group of girls works hard in games and at practices to positively represent our school. Come out and encourage them. The next home game is Thursday the 13th, C-team and JV at 6 varsity to follow.
