With 2 weeks of practice in the rear view mirror, the Jaguar Cross Country Team came out strong in their second meet of the season. Yesterday evening the team competed at the Pine City Golf Course, where they would go on to take home 4 ribbons, and 1 medal. In the junior high girls race, Reese Hartl led the race and never looked back, winning her second 1st place ribbon. Isabella Bennett, not far behind, ended up finishing 10th. In the junior high boys race, Brody Froehling kept his head high and was looked forward to earning his 8th place ribbon. To follow the Junior High Boys, the Varsity girls team was up next, so as Audrey, Hallie, Abby, Sophie, Raechel, and Christeva stepped up to the line and took their places, on the sound of the gun they were off. Not knowing that Raechel would end up breaking the course record with a 22:44 5k time. Now moving onto the Varsity Boys Team, with Cedric Lafave leading the pack and Anders Prater and Brock Bjerke following behind, they came out with an overall 4th place. With the help from Dylan, Jacob, Sam, and Josey. We would like to make a special recognition for Cedric Lafave with him winning his first Varsity race!! Last but certainly not least the Junior Varsity races in which the boys would run first, followed by the girls. In the boys race Johnny Kordiak earned himself a 10th place ribbon and with him and the team they would end up placing 5th overall. Lastly the girls race, with not many numbers the JV girls could not compete for a team score. But individually Killeen, Emily, and Ava were all pretty close with their times and would all finish relatively close. So overall the Pine City meet was very successful in many ways, and we hope that the rest of the season goes as planned. Looking Forward the Jaguar Cross Country team will have many more meets, but here are a few dates for the upcoming meets: Tuesday, September 11 @ Mora, Monday, September 17 @ Pierz, and Saturday, September 22 @ Milaca. We hope that the rest of the Cross Country season goes well for all of the participating athletes!!
