The Jaguar Football boys’ season came to an end on Thursday, November 2nd in Esko, with a loss against Braham. The team ended the regular season with 7 wins and only two losses. The team played many well fought games, two of which were decided in overtime. Senior Chayne Dunkley commented that although they started off with little success and an overall rough start, as the season went on they kept putting in the work and they began to win more games. We asked coach Brad Hopkins what the key is to having a successful and coherent team to which he replied, “Football is a game of strategy... one player can not do things alone without the help of his teammates.” The jaguar football team continued to play hard all year and were rewarded with second place in the conference. Looking forward to next season, Coach Hopkins would like to see improvement from this past season and a conference championship. He commented that going to the state tournament is something that they’ve been close to doing three seasons in a row and will eventually happen. Losing 14 seniors, the team will have spots that need to be filled next year. Chayne’s advice to next year's team is, “take advantage of this opportunity as most kids won’t get to play football after high school; this is your one chance. Work hard on the field as well as in the classroom and have a sense of pride in our team and our school.” The team would also like to thank all of the fans for filling the stands and traveling with them to many games and the cheerleaders for supporting jaguar football, getting fans excited, and “having their backs to the bitter end!” They also want to give special thanks to all the parents for allowing their son to be a part of jaguar football and for the dedication and commitment that is given.
