Last week the students in Mr. Vickstrom’s World History class participated in an activity called Shark Tank. The project was based on ABC’s hit TV show, Shark Tank, where young inventors and entrepreneurs, pitch their ideas and ask for a certain amount of money to a group of wealthy business people (sharks). The Sharks then have the opportunity to invest in them or not. The only catch for the HF students project was that they had to pose as a 15th or 16th century explorer. They had to pitch their voyage plans to the “sharks” who were teachers and office members. The students were required to to create an appropriate budget for their purposed voyage, show they understood the time period, and most importantly be persuasive during their pitch to secure funding from the sharks. There was many well pitched explorations and it was difficult to choose one winner from each class but it had to be done. The winners are as folllows: 1st hour, Anders Prater, Jayde Haugan, and Adam Bridenstine, 3rd hour, Jill O’Bryan and Jacob Robbins and 6th hour, Blake Costello, Ella Duroche, and Riley Ziegler.
