The Hinckley-Finlayson Varsity volleyball team had a season full of ups and downs, more downs than ups in the win column, but ask anyone and they’ll tell you the team’s (2-22) record did not reflect their effort. Coach Joey Scullard said that despite the losses they didn’t have a single player quit all season. He said the girls stuck with it no matter how tough the season was. We asked graduating senior Amanda Sadler what it was like to play on the team this year and she said, “everyday was unique, you never knew what was going to happen next. It was a fun because everyday was very interesting.” The Jaguars had some ups aswell, including a win against East Central in the first tournament of the season, and a win over the Ogilvie Lions in three games, mid-season. Amid these victories, there were personal achievements as well. Hannah Balut earned all conference honors and Amanda Sadler received an all-conference honorable mention. The team boasted 9 letter winners. The Jags have already started looking forward towards next season. Losing 5 seniors they have many spots to fill, including replacing two starting setters. Coach Scullard says that after the success of this year's JV, he sees more wins coming at the varsity level next year. Amanda’s advice for next year's team was, “never be afraid to try something new and never be afraid to step up.”
