4/30/2020 0 Comments How to get Motivated!By: Killeen Prater Week 5 of distance learning. Lots of people are running into a wall when it comes to motivation and creativity. Motivation is so tricky. Sometimes it comes so easily we get so excited and other times it is so difficult to become motivated we get pushed into a death spiral of procrastination. In the rest of this article I wanted to share some tips and research on motivation because I know we can all use it in a time like this.
Motivation: What is it and how does it work? Scientists define motivation as your general willingness to do something. This is a great basic description but I define motivation in a simple phrase; At some point the pain of not doing a task becomes greater than the pain of doing the task. Every choice has a price, but when we are motivated it is easier to bear the inconvenience of the task. Sometimes we will dwell on an idea until procrationation becomes too painful. How to get motivated: Many times we find ourselves wasting too much energy on the wrong part of the process. Wake up thinking “I will be motivated today”.Many times motivation comes with a schedule. If you plan doing your school work or working out at specific times of the day chances are by the time you get to those times you will be mentally prepared to do those tasks. I know it is difficult to make ourselves do something we don't necessarily want to but it will be better in the long run. So do your homework. Go on that run.It will be worth it.
