12/14/2018 0 Comments The Last Blood Drive of 2018With Christmas just around the corner the community of Hinckley is getting into the spirit of giving. Last wednesday they did just that, giving 61 units of blood during the final blood drive of the calendar year at HFHS. HFHS traditionally brings in very high donation numbers for a school our size and the blood drive coordinators did that again this time around even during flu season.
We asked Blood Drive coordinator Haley Risley what she thought made this blood drive a success and she told us, “There was a great showing from the community, and there were lots of people who were willing to walk in for people who were deferred.” She talked about how it was especially exciting because the coordinators managed to fill tons of slots with first time donors and walk ins, “even during flu season”, Haley ended our interview with some words of advice for people who have never donated before saying, “It is not as bad as it seems, there are worse things out there in the world and by donating you could potentially save three lives.”
