9/14/2018 0 Comments Volleyball Weekly Recap: 9/10-9/14By Avery Degerstrom
To start off their week the volleyball team traveled to Isle. Both the JV and Varsity teams took a win. Being that Isle has no C-team our girls came with, cheered and kept stats. JV started strong but a few little errors set them back and they lost the first game. They kept the momentum and erased the silly mistakes to take the second game from the Huskies. In a short game to 15 the Jags didn’t let up they won 15-5. With a new rotation and great coaching these girls are improving every time they step on the court. Varsity took the Huskies in 3 games. The Jags came out with confidence and determination in their eyes, looking for their first win of the season. They won the first two games one even with a score of 25-??. With the crowd louder than ever and the excitement of a possible sweep the Jaguars took a commanding 9-0 lead to start game 3. The Huskies didn’t roll over though, they kept battling inching their way back up to an even score with the Jags. It was quite the game. Spectators on the edge of their seats, as the scoreboard says 24-24 Isle with the serve. Two serves later and the score read 26-24, the Jaguars had won. To keep up the excitement from Tuesday the Jaguars welcomed the East Central Eagles to their home court on Thursday. All 3 of our Jaguar volleyball teams came out victorious. C-team won in 5, going neck and neck all night with the Eagles. It was a tough fought battle but we came out on top. Jv won the match in 3 games, losing the first one but using it as motivation to come back and win the next two. Coach Smith graciously shared her take on the game last night with me. She said, “JV Volleyball won another exciting 3-set match last night at home against East Central. After dropping the first set 22-25, they came back fighting to win the next two sets 25-18 and 15-13. Thank you to all the supportive fans for creating such a fun, loud atmosphere to play in. Good job to the Lady Jags on earning another win on our special Blackout/Parent's Night!”. The varsity girls had to play all five games in order to take the match. The gym was hot and they were tired but that didn’t slow down their momentum. They lost a close first game and it was back and forth after that with alternating wins. All were close suspenseful games but the most suspenseful one by far was the last game. It was the all or nothing, the make it or break it game. The Jags started out with the lead but the Eagles battled back. Some crazy volleys and good plays later and the Jaguars win the game 15-13. It was a very good week of volleyball with all wins for the Jags.
